Swimming MST...

"I concentrate on preparing to swim my race and let the other swimmers think about me, not me about them." (Amanda Beard)

What is Swimming MST?

Whether you are a club, collegiate and/or an Olympic swimmer, it is vital that you are both physically and mentally prepared going into each race. The physical preparation comes naturally to most swimmers, who are often conditioned to know when to hit the warm up pool at the start of a meet and pre-race. Yet the mental preparation is a bit more blurry. Each swimmer is unique and it is essential to develop a tailored pre-race routine that encompasses mental as well as physical preparation to ensure that you are fully prepared to "go fast".

Swimming MST includes, but is not limited, to helping you:

- develop a pre-race routine including both physical and mental preparation
- learn how to focus on your race and to refocus if you become distracted
- stay positive and manage your expectations
- stay relaxed and swim efficiently
- stay motivated through those early morning swim practices
- to set training and meet goals
- to energize or re-energize during a meet
- build your confidence
- to use visualization techniques including co-creating a visualization script/audio file for your i-pod/phone
- learn how to utilize reflective practice
