Snooker MST...

"Snooker is one of the most difficult sports, psychologically... In snooker, when the other guy's at the table, there's nothing you can do. That's very hard to deal with. So I have one or two mental routines, because the line is so fine between winning and losing..." (Peter Ebdon)

What is Snooker MST?

There's no doubting that a lot of pro-am tournament players and professionals put in hours on the green baize doing the line up, practicing their stun-run-throughs, break-building, long pots, safety play etc. But few would say they allocate some time to Mental Skills Training. As awareness of the significance of the mental game grows, more and more players are realizing the need to develop their mental strength as they seek that all-important competitive edge.

Snooker MST helps you:

- increase your self-awareness of your snooker performances
- learn to focus while at the table and let go if you make a mistake that lets your opponent in
- stay positive
- handle pressure, especially in deciding frames
- develop a pre-shot routine
- use visualization e.g. to mentally rehearse playing opponents of a certain style (i.e. a quick player playing a slow player) or playing in front of television cameras for the first time
- build your confidence
- set snooker goals
- work on your motivation
- manage expectations
- develop a pre-match routine (to prepare you mentally and physically before you start your match)

- deal with the transition from amateur to qualifying school and to becoming pro
- develop a game plan & reflect on your match performances

Video: Ronnie O'Sullivan talks about how working on his mental game has helped him.

Mark has an extensive snooker background: he has competed in pro-am tournaments and played against several of today's elite players including Ronnie O'Sullivan, Matthew Stevens, Stuart Bingham, Joe Jogia and ex-world champion Kelly Fisher. He truly understands the demands of the game.

I live in the UK or internationally - can I still work with Mark on my snooker mental game?

Yes! Sessions will be carried out by doing a Skype video call and will be on your time zone! E.g. UK residents will normally participate in the sessions during the evenings, from 6pm onwards.

If you are interested in developing your snooker mental game, please contact Mark today. Mark can also help those who play other cue sports such as nine-ball pool and billiards.
